And what were our favorite sci-fi comedies that we absolutely should not have been watching as kids? Join us this week for “Bot-Tastic Voyage”!
Streets of Fire is a noir musical simultaneously set in the ‘50s, the ‘80s, and never. It’s a movie of brooding tough guys, icy dames, savage biker gangs, and Rick Moranis. It was designed to be a blockbuster, but it became a cult classic Cyberpunk movie without the Cyber.

Scheduling nonsense has us off on another diversion this week! The boys watch an old HBO original movie with a problematic element, and it’s not just that the main character is named H.P. Lovecraft. It’s Cast a Deadly Spell, a detective tale with magic starring Fred Ward, David Warner, a cast of character actors, and monstrous muppets. It’s a made-for-cable 90s movie, set in the noir 40s, based upon concepts of 20s weird horror. So there is a content warning about there being a trans character, or drag queen, the movie doesn’t think about that character too much because the 90s.
